Apple to soon refresh the iMac with Haswell-based processors

Apple to soon refresh its line of iMacs with Haswell processors (NASDAQ:AAPL, NASDAQ:INTC)

If you're in the market for an iMac, you might want to wait a couple of weeks, as it looks like the big boy retailers are now offering discounts on iMac configurations, with Apple slowing shipments of the all-in-one PC.

This is all happening because Apple is poised to refresh the iMac with Intel's fourth-generation "Haswell" Core processors which should be announced after the company's September iPhone media event. AppleInsider reports: "The discounts join sales efforts initiated earlier this month by Best Buy, Amazon, and MacMall -- all of which are similarly offering the four standard iMac retail configurations at discounts between $100 and $150. Given the new inventory management measures Apple adopted after January's MacBook Pro surplus scare, the discounts are likely the start of a multi-week effort to run its iMac channel fairly bare."
