Flash Memory Summit 2013 - Last week when Samsung announced the world's first 3-D V-NAND based SSD storage, the entire tech world took notice.

During this week's Flash Memory Summit, our own storage guru Paul Alcorn had a chance to sit down and discuss this new breakthrough technology with Samsung's Steve Weinger when he stopped by the booth to say hello.

Weinger said that Samsung was extremely excited about the new 3D V-NAND technology, and that the 20-percent increase in performance and 40-percent increase in power efficiency is backed up by a major increase in reliability. The new 3D V-NAND technology is rated up to 35,000 PE cycles where typical MLC drives today are only rated for around 3,000 PE cycles.
