Soltek USA becomes regular distro?

By: (more) | Posted: Jun 18, 2003 12:27 am

Solomon over at 3DChipset has posted some news regarding the Soltek USA fiasco we have seen over the past month. According to one of his industry contacts, Soltek USA was never owned by Soltek in Taiwan and hence were not a true branch office of the Taiwanese motherboard manufacturer.

It goes deeper though. Soltek USA was supposed to be the sole distributor of Soltek products in the United States; however they discovered that Soltek Taiwan was selling directly to NewEgg.com and under-cutting prices set by Soltek USA. As a result this understandably upset Soltek USA a lot and enough for them to decide they would become a distributor and sell products from Asus, Abit, ATi, nVidia and so forth.

Hey Solomon

I just got off the phone with Soltek USA and they have recently shifted to become a distributor and sell other things like Asus, Abit, ATi, nVidia, etc... Something happened with their dealings of becoming the sole distributor of Soltek products here in the states. Soltek USA recently discovered that Newegg.com was buying directly from the Soltek in Taiwan. With that at hand they decided to not become a Soltek reseller. The official Soltek distributor in the states is now Newegg.com

What a lot of people do not know about Soltek USA is that they were never owned by the Soltek in Taiwan. They acquired the name to become the sole distributor of Soltek products. They recently have been acquired by Atech Digilog once they found out Newegg was going behind their backs and making dealings with the Soltek of Taiwan and getting the products cheaper.
