SiS closes its doors due to SARS?

By: (more) | Posted: May 2, 2003 4:29 am

We heard a rumor from a reliable source today which tells us Silicon Integrated Systems aka SiS (a large Taiwanese chipset manufacturer) closed down yesterday because of one of its employees contracted the crippling SARS infection. We can only presume the closure is due to other staff members not being prepared to work in the environment.

This news comes to us a fairly big worry considering the SiS building, in outer Taipei, is only a stones throw from TSMC, one of the worlds largest chip fabs producing core logic for companies like nVidia and VIA Technologies.

We'll keep you updated with any news we hear, if anyone from SiS wants to give us the official word, please do not hold back.
