MSI FX5800 Ultra-TD8X

Hardware Zone has an in depth review of the new MSI FX5800 Ultra-TD8X video card from MSI. The card was tested with the latest drivers (v43.00) from Nvidia. The results are not what I was expecting considering the performance improvements Nvidia has given us in the past with each successive driver release. We can only hope they do better in the future.

 

The GeForce FX seemed like a powerful graphics card solution at commencement, but as we begin to evaluate more of it and with newer drivers, it seems to us that too much hype went into its making as well. Although we shall not judge the card too much based on the 43.00 drivers, we can't ignore it as well since it is a step closer to taking the form as the final drivers - no doubt the results were a tad inconclusive and there were screen anomalies in several areas while benchmarking with 3D Mark 2003. With the new 43.00 drivers, we were eagerly expecting performance enhancements, rather than deterioration and that dented the optimistic view we kept of the GeForce FX
