Kickstarter stats: 84% of the top 50 projects missed their initial shipping date

CNNMoney have looked into Kickstarter, and their investigation has found that the top 50 projects on Kickstarter raised $40.3 million in funding with close to 420,000 backers. But, there's some more interesting news to come from this - that 84% of the top 50 most funded Kickstarter campaigns missed their initial shipping date.

All of the projects that CNNMoney looked into had a shipping date of November 2012 or earlier, and just eight campaigns managed to ship projects to their backers in a timely manner. 16 projects still remained unshipped.

26 products that eventually shipped missed their initial shipping date by almost two months - but remember that these stats are only accurate with the top 50 projects, not the rest of the thousands of campaigns.
