LSI AIS 2012 - PNY Debuts HP SSD Upgrades and New USA Manufacturing Facility

LSI AIS 2012 - We've known about PNY's growing relationship with USA based system builders for some time but the HP connection just became a little more public. Before we dive into the new products though let's have a brief look at PNY's new Made in the USA manufacturing facility located in New Jersey.

PNY has a new manufacturing facility in New Jersey. The new green factory gets up to 40% of its power from solar cells, quite an achievement considering the amount of power needed to run SMT lines. While looking for information about the factory we found several positions available so if you're looking for a job in the high technology manufacturing sector PNY is a good place to send your resume.

PNY's presence in the SSD market is growing.

Under the PNY label the company has products branded under the XLR8 and Prevail names. The flagship product is one we have in for review new, Prevail Elite. This SSD ships with 10K PE cycle flash, a first for a consumer SSD. PNY also offers SSDs with 5K and 3K flash as well.

At AIS PNY debuted new SSDs to be sold under the HP brand name. The new V500a uses 5K PE cycle flash and the v300a uses 3K flash. No word on pricing or availability just yet but these products should increase mainstream SSD adaption. All of these products use LSI SF-2000 Series controllers.

Most of us know PNY from their memory and video card business. Off to the side we spotted a unique GeForce GTX with from the PNY factory liquid cooling. We'll work on getting one of these in for review so we can see how cool the XLR8 line has become.
