Sudhian Comdex Day 1 Coverage

| Posted: Nov 19, 2002 5:41 am

Andrew from Sudhian Media has also posted his Day 1 coverage from Comdex. Among other things, it includes information from nVidia's GeForce FX press conference and new wireless barebone systems from Shuttle. What took me by surprise was the size of the NV30; it's a monster taking up two PCI slots, as you can see from the picture below.

Jen-Husn unveiled the new GeForce FX and we were able to get some shots of the card. As you can see, it's pretty big, and uses a cooling system similar to that used on Abit's OTES Ti4200 card. This time though, the system is contained and cool air is brought in from the rear and then shot back out, cooling the core. The system makes use of heatpipes, just like the OTES. However, with this design it would be impossible to modify this card to fit in a SFF system as I did with my OTES card.
