DICE have been celebrating the 10th anniversary of their Battlefield franchise, which started off with a week-long celebration back in September. The developer discounted a heap of games in the series, as well as offering some special features.

Another celebration is in order thanks to Battlefield 3 Premium passing 2 million members, where they've now offered Battlefield 1942 as a free download. Battlefield 1942 is now available through EA's Origin service and includes the base game only, without expansions.

They're also releasing a compilation of concept artwork from the development of the game in digital booklet (PDF) form, which sports visual and gameplay materials from over 10 years ago.

Since the beginning, the reception to the Battlefield series has been incredible thanks to our amazing fans. Every day, we strive to provide our community with great games and new ways to play as evident with Battlefield 3 Premium. We wanted to thank our fans who have supported us throughout the years with a chance to go back and play the game that started it all.
