No KT400A from VIA Tech until next year

By: (more) | Posted: Nov 13, 2002 8:41 pm

According to a story running over at DigiTimes, Taiwanese chipset manufacturer VIA Technologies will not release its KT400A DDR-400 supporting chipset until early next year. The delay in launch will mean nVidia has open slather on the AMD processor market with their powerful nForce2 chipset until such time.

With VIA said to have no plans to mass-produce new chipsets, some board makers noted that it may be a great business opportunity for Nvidia's nForce2 core logic chipsets. However, given the higher prices and the current production progress of the chipsets, Nvidia would not be a formidable rival to VIA in the AMD market for the moment.
