Microsoft are holding a launch event for their upcoming Windows 8 operating system, which will be held in New York on October 25. The event will likely lead up to a midnight launch of the OS on October 26.
Microsoft's iPad competitor, Surface, should be part of the event, and we're guessing a slew of slates, desktops, Ultrabooks and other devices will be on show, too. Microsoft's Windows 8 launch is important, not just to the company, but the consumers.
It's the first time the Redmond-based company have supported a machine architecture other than x86 and IA-64, as Windows 8 RT supports ARM-based processors.
