Samsung Galaxy S III getting Jelly Bean update in October

Samsung announces a release window for the Galaxy SIII Jelly Bean update

| Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Sep 11, 2012 11:22 pm

Developers seem like they have been getting daily leaks of the Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean update, but Samsung has been playing coy with the release date. The leak that occurred yesterday appeared to some as near perfect, signalling that Samsung's official release should be on the horizon. Today, Samsung has confirmed that the update is coming in October.

For those who can't wait for the update, the 4G version of the phone will be coming with Jelly Bean out of the box. The specific day in October for when the update will be available has not been disclosed, but at least we now have a window of 31 days to shoot for. And people won't be asking, "how much longer do I have to wait?"

Samsung hasn't been the best on releasing updates for older phones. There was a bit of an issue with the Galaxy S2 update delays and I personally haven't been able to upgrade my Samsung Epic 4G beyond something like 2.3.4 which is really old. Users of network-branded devices will likely have to wait a bit longer than those with unlocked phones.
