Actual AMD Opteron benchmarks?

| CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Oct 18, 2002 6:27 am

German site 3D Center claim to have the first actual benchmarks of AMD's up-and-coming Opteron processor running at 2GHz. Benchmarked from within AMD labs, they compare the Opteron against an Athlon XP, Athlon Thunderbird, Pentium 4, Pentium 4 Xeon, Itanium 1 and 2 under SPEC CPU2000. The translation is fairly shady but all we really need to see are the numbers, which I stress, should be treated as speculation at this stage. Don't ask me how they managed to run the tests, for all we know an AMD employee could have done them.

On the Microprocessor forum in San Jose, California, announced AMD first of bench mark to 2,0 GHz of a Opteron of processor. Contrary to not at all estimated values uncommon with server processors in the preparatory phase (which however mostly nevertheless are correct) this bench mark on a material Opteron system in the AMD laboratories rule-fairly and offer after the values Clawhammer prototypes on 800 MHz from June this yearly the first halfway reliable numbers were measured to AMD's of new processor generation.
