eBay Acquires PayPal

By: (more) | Business, Financial & Legal News | Posted: Oct 10, 2002 11:39 pm

I received an interesting email in my inbox today stating that PayPal, a popular payment medium, has been acquired by eBay. The primary goal of this was to ease integration into the eBay site, and to further help buyers and sellers. Users who preferred to use the Billpoint system will be able to continue usage until early next year.

A great many eBay buyers and sellers use PayPal to complete their transactions, and have told us that they would like to have PayPal integrated into the eBay site. Within the next few weeks, that will begin to happen. In the first phase of integration you will see PayPal featured on the Sell Your Item and View Item pages. Further integration will happen over the coming months. Our goal is to make trading on eBay faster, safer and more convenient for buyers and sellers alike.
