Non-HTC devices can now enjoy Beats Audio app, unofficially

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Mar 6, 2012 6:29 am

The XDA-Developers are great people, today their latest project brings the HTC-exclusive Beats Audio app to non-HTC smartphones. The port is done through a flashable ZIP file that allows users to get the bass-heavy equalizer on their non-HTC phones.

This trick should work on most Android versions and smartphones, with a special version existing for the Galaxy S II. Aw. Just like other hacks, the install is always at the users risk. But when it works, which is said to be most of the time, it works well.

HTC is continuing to keep Beats processing as an advantage to buying HTC-branded smartphones, but the company did offer an olive branch in making public APIs and letting Beats work within any app, but these just let developers write their own apps to use the audio support, and not throw it on other phones.
