AMD Radeon HD 7970 Quad CrossFireX tested, Battlefield 3, 1080p with Ultra details - 199fps average

VR-Zone have done some testing that really gets me excited: 4-way AMD Radeon HD 7970s with Battlefield 3. Oh boy. It's time to pull out my wallet. Before we get into the thick of it, some back story. VR-Zone upgraded their CPU cooling to an XSPC RX360 kit, and clicked it at 4.8GHz (Core i7-3960X).

They couldn't get any of the available overclocking tools to adjust voltages or core clocks on the HD 7970's beyond 1125MHz on the 4-way CFX setup, so they settled for AMD Overdrive to run their cards at 1100/1500MHz. First up they did some 3DMark 11 testing, with the the following results:

They did some other testing, you can check those results out here. Let's get onto those Battlefield 3 scores, shall we?

VR-Zone ran Battlefield 3 in DX11 mode at 1920x1080 (1080p) with the Ultra preset, in the Going Hunting Single Player Level using FRAPS. The results? A minimum of 180fps, maximum of 202fps and average of an insane 198.991fps. Yes, average of 199fps! VR-Zone didn't stop there, though. They pushed on through with more Battlefield 3 testing, this time with a triple-screen setup at 5760x1080 with the same Ultra preset and the same Going Hunting Single Player Level FRAPS test.

Results were still stellar, with a minimum of 70fps, max of 140fps and an average of 112.153fps. Insane, right?!
