LG crams an A3-capable hand scanner into a laser mouse

LG has an interesting little computing peripheral lined up for display at the IFA show in Berlin early next month, the first of its kind in fact.

Their LSM-100 is essentially a 2-in-1 mouse as it doubles up as a portable scanner as well. The implemented scanner is capable of scanning up to A3 sized pages and can use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to convert scanned text into editable text in a document. It can save the scanned content directly to PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF and even straight into XLS files.

To initiate scans with the LSM-100, you simply hold the Smart Scan button on the left side of the mouse and swipe away over the desired material.

While details provided on the mouse itself are somewhat lacking in the press release, LG promises its laser sensor to be very accurate and durable. A durable laser sensor, LG? So it might be good for the mass of ragers out there then?
