Microsoft, have in the past two years or so, been attempting to make a surge in the Internet Media industry. With eyes focused directly on rivals RealNetworks and Apple, two companies that have long dominated the Internet Media world with their RealPlayer and Quicktime software, Microsoft was set to take the world by storm. Microsoft followed by opening a new media "portal", similar to the portal RealNetworks offered to its users. The portal was dubbed, "WindowsMedia.com".More information at Icrontic
