Google I/O 2011: Android is an unstoppable mobile force that seems to be the only competition against iOS-based devices with Google I/O still going - there seems to be an unrelenting wave of information coming out. Things like, 100 million activated devices, 4.5 billion applications downloaded from the Android Market, 450,000 developers building tools and Android-based devices and most surprisingly, 400,000 activations of Android devices per day.

There are more than 310 Android-powered devices available in 112 countries from 36 OEM vendors and 215 carriers. Google also have 200,000 applications on the Android Market which puts them just over half way against the Apple App Store which holds 350,000 apps.

The numbers are undeniable, Google Android is an obvious success and they seem to have only just begun. Android 3.0-based devices such as the Motorola Xoom, ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 are set to launch the tablet market on fire. I for one cannot wait to get my hands on all three of the new tablets.
