If readers recall, we posted numerous different methods for gamers and techies to help out in the relief effort following the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami tragedy of March.

Electronic Arts proudly announced today on their blog that their
FIFA Ultimate Team Relief Effort
raised half a million dollars for the victims and survivors in Japan.

This is no small feat, considering the effort initiative only lasted 24 hours. (Virtual) Football (re: American Soccer) Players around the world united and bought lots of collectible player packs. I would be critical of the means used to mount this campaign if I weren't so damn proud.

We'll keep you updated on the success and progress of other campaigns on which we've reported as the come along. Feel free to tip us!
