Intel releases the Core i7 990X CPU, also slashes i7-970 and i7-960 pricing

The 990X is clocked at 3.46GHz (compared to the 980's clock speed of 3.33GHz) and still keeps its unlocked multiplier. The 990X has a price tag of $999.
Intel have not only released a new top-end CPU but they have slashed prices on two LGA1366-based chips, the i7-960 and i7-970. The i7-960 has seen a reduction from $562 to $294 while the i7-970 drops from $885 to $583. Not bad at all. This new pricing has put them nearly level with the new second-generation Core range CPU offerings.
