Webbox from Vodafone looks to bring the internet to emerging markets

The internet is obviously a global phenomenon, but there are many countries in the world without access due to cost and infrastructure concerns. Many companies are finding creative ways to deal with this problem, and Vodafone's Webbox keyboard looks to be a solid solution.

This around $100(749R) keyboard plugs into a TV via a set of standard RCA cables and is plug and play. Powering the Webbox up gives the user access to an Opera mini-browser, games, local news, and a text editor among other items via a 2G or 3G wireless connection. Data downloads at 90% compression and is a simple alternative to more expensive PCs. A 2GB SD card, 100mb of data, and a prepaid SIM are included in the $100 bundle.
