AMD Fusion APU accelerates Flash Player 10.2

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Feb 9, 2011 6:12 pm

One of the most popular types on content on the web is Flash-based stuff. Flash video and games are very popular and the lack of support for Flash is one of the biggest faults in some Apple gear. AMD has announced that as of this week Adobe Flash Player 10.2 gets some acceleration from its new Fusion APU and several AMD GPUs. The acceleration makes for enhanced video playback on the low-power Fusion APU machines.

AMD and Adobe worked together on the new Flash Payer to allow the acceleration of 1080p HD video playback with hardware acceleration. Version 10.2 is also accelerated on other AMD graphics platform computers. The accelerated video is made possible with the StageVideo APIs.

AMD has also announced that the Radeon discrete line of GPUs is now capable of accelerating Flash Player 10.2. Acceleration on AMD platforms include the HD 4000, HD 5000, Mobility HD 4000, HD 6000M, HD 3000, and FirePro video cards.
