Ifixit releases $10 kit to crack Apple's new tamper resistant screws

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jan 22, 2011 4:35 am

You didn't really think it would take long after Apple's announcement of new tamper resistant screws before kits came out to thwart their attempt at iPhone 4 lockdown, did you? Kits are already starting to show up, including ifixit's excellently named "iPhone 4 Liberation Kit."

The $10 kit includes a special driver to remove the Pentalobular screws installed by Apple, as well as two screws and a matching Philips screwdriver to replace the old screws with. This will make life easier in case you lose the specialty screwdriver, or if you want to put those funky screws into something else to mess with your friends. Check the kit out here.
