Verizon offers some customers $200 to upgrade to iPhone 4

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jan 19, 2011 7:02 pm

I would bet that with the holidays just getting over that there are bunches of folks out there that took advantage of deals at Verizon and upgraded to a new smartphone over the holidays. The problem is with the new iPhone 4 heading to Verizon you might be having some serious buyer's remorse right now and wishing you waited for the iPhone. If you are one of these remorseful buyers, Verizon has a deal that might be perfect for you.

Verizon Wireless has announced that any customer that bought a new smartphone, feature phone, or refurbished phone between 11/26/2010 and 01/10/2011 are eligible to get a special deal good for $200 off the purchase price of the iPhone 4 at full retail. There are a few points you need to be aware of though.

To take advantage of the deal you have to give back your current phone. That's not such a sticking point for most users. The real catch is that you will have to pay full retail price for the iPhone and then Verizon will send you back a $200 Visa gift card. That phone will not be cheap at full sticker price. It would be a better deal if they just offered the upgrade up front at $200 off MSRP.
