OCZ Launches Three New Enterprise SSDs

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Jan 8, 2011 2:17 am

CES 2011, Las Vegas - OCZ has a trio of new SandForce drives for the enterprise market. The new Vertex 3 EX, Vertex 3 Pro and Z-Drive R3 all made an appearance at their suite.

The new Z-Drive R3 is a bootable PCIe SSD similar to a RevoDrive but designed for the enterprise market.

The spec sheet shows the Z-Drive R3 being able to read at up to 1,000MB/s and writing data at 950MB/s.

The new Vertex 3 EX is a 2.5" form factor model with SLC flash.

OCZ states that the Vertex 2 EX is capable of delivering 550MB/s read and 525MB/s write speeds. The IOPS go all the way to 80K at 4K random write.

The Vertex 3 Pro is the entry level next generation SandForce enterprise drive and uses MLC or eMLC flash.

The Vertex 3 Pro delivers the same maximum read and write speeds as the Vertex 3 EX but loses around 5K IOPS per second. With 75K random 4K IOPS the Pro model should deliver blazing fast performance at a much lower cost than the other two drives.
