Redpark Product Development is in the process of bringing out an iPhone friendly serial cables, complete with a "Made for iPhone" certification. These will be useful for those using iPhones to interface with things like science equipment, point of sale machines, and other networks that use this port that you have probably long since forgotten about. The "Made for iPhone" cert requires a cable have one specific purpose when built, and first off the line will reportedly be the SKyWire whichlets your iPhone interface with telescopes with serial ports.
