We can credit Amazon with helping to revive the eReader market with its Kindle. Readers had been around for a long time before Amazon entered the market, but the Kindle and its feature set really got users to pay attention and kicked the market off in earnest. Today the Kindle is still one of the most popular devices on the market.

Amazon has announced that its latest Kindle is now the best selling device in the history of the company. The previous best selling product was the book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." Amazon didn't get specific on the number of Kindles it sold in all. However, it did state that on its busiest day, November 29, customers ordered over 13.7 million items globally amounting to 158 items ordered per second. Amazon also noted that more Kindles were turned on for the first time on Christmas day than any other day in history.

The best selling products on Amazon this holiday season were the WiFi Kindle and the Kindle 3G. The most purchased Kindle book was "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and that book was also the most gifted book in the store. I would like to know specifically how many Kindles were sold.
