SSDs are in all manner of electronics and other devices today. The SSD is ideally suited to small devices since they have no moving parts and require very little power to operate. The SSD also has very good performance offering much better performance than you get from traditional HDDs despite the power savings the SSD offers. A company called Foremay has unveiled what it claims to be the world's fastest SSD in 1.8-inch size.

The tiny little SSD can be had in up to 400GB storage capacity and it offers performance on par with larger drives. The SSD has read/write speeds of up to 280MB/s and random read/write IOPS at 4KB up to 30,000 for read and 18,000 for writes. The little SSD is aimed at use in consumer electronics, HPC, and enterprise servers as well as high-end laptop markets.

The SSD comes in a few models with the SC199 and EC188 offering the fast performance in 5mm thick profile. The smallest is the OC177 at only 3.3mm thick. The little SSDs are shipping in volume right now in all three-product families. The company doesn't offer any specific product names that the speedy little storage device can be found in.
