System Builders Guides get major updates!

By: (more) | Computer Systems News | Posted: Oct 31, 2010 4:13 pm

We have just updated our TweakTown System Builders Guides with some pretty major changes and updates.

Starting off with the TweakTown Sub-lieutenant PC ($1000 USD) we see the video card changed to a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 460 OC 768MB. It offers more performance than the previous selection and it only costs a few bucks more. The monitor selection also saw a change moving up from a 23-inch model to a Samsung B2430HD 24-inch Widescreen w/TV Tuner. It's a lot cheaper than the old model and offers some great features.

Moving on to the TweakTown Commander PC ($2000 USD) we see many changes. First up the RAM has been changed from a slightly faster 4GB kit to a OCZ Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2000 kit. The Radeon 5850 video card has been changed to a Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB video card that is much cheaper and offers better performance. Gone is the 24-inch monitor and in its place is the brand new Samsung P2770FH 27-inch 1ms Widescreen monitor. There was nothing wrong with the previous CPU cooler used, but it is now not on sale and has been replaced with the new Corsair CAFA70 120mm Dual-Fan CPU Cooler that managed to perform very well in our review.

And finally we hit the TweakTown Admiral PC (Unlimited Cost) which didn't get skipped with some update treatment. Gone is the 6GB memory kit and added in its place is the amazing Corsair XMS CMX12GX3M3A2000C9 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3-2000 kit. Now that 3TB hard drives are now on the market, we couldn't ignore this section and added in three Western Digital Caviar Green WD30EZRSDTL 3TB drives for a huge 9TB of storage capacity.

Head on over and see our recommendations for building a computer at various price points.
