Playing Kinect early triggers XBox Live killing update

No way back from online connection destroyer

Better look out if you've got some connections that hooked you up with a Kinect before the November 4th launch. Plugging in the Kinect or a Kinect game triggers an update that will install a new version of the Dashboard that not only doesn't allow you to play the game, but cuts you off from Xbox Live as well. There's currently not even a fix available, so you're stuck without online play (or the ability to play with your shiny new Kinect) until Microsoft gets an update out. Better keep that black market Kinect in its box for another week if you fancy being able to play online.
