Lenovo tablet slated for Summer 2011, if Android's tablet OS is ready
Lenovo President and CEO Rory Read had a few things to say on the mobile front to a group of journalists at their headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina today. Even though Lenovo is not planning on bringing a smartphone to market in the U.S. for another two years, their "Le Pad" tablet may hit U.S. shores for businesses and consumers somewhere around Summer 2011.

This launch date seems to hinge on Android's next major OS release, codenamed "Honeycomb." Read stated that he "doesn't believe Froyo (Android 2.2) is the right base to have a fully functioning pad." Honeycomb is slated for release at around the same time so if that date gets pushed back, there's a good chance the Lenovo tablet will as well since Lenovo also has no plans on rolling out a Windows 7 based tablet.
