Next time you're on a Jetstar domestic flight - you might have the option of using an iPad for in-flight entertainment, very cool.
Jetstar's CIO and general manager of IT, Steve Tame said yesterday that they're aiming for a roll-out of iPad's this year - pending final arrangements with Apple and media content companies.
Tame said, "Jetstar is looking at the iPad as the in-flight entertainment systems for the A320 aircraft in Australia and across Asia Pacific. The program is running from our commercial department with our in-flight services team, We are targeting roll-out this year as soon as all agreements have been finalised."
Jetstar has 41 Airbus A320-200 aircraft in it's fleet and according to current flight schedules, the A320 operates between all of Jetstar's domestic locations including major capital cities as well as Cairns, Hamilton Island, Launceston, Mackay, Newcastle, Rockhampton, Townsville, the Whitsundays, Ballina Byron, the Fraser Coast, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
Jetstar did have a trial of iPads earlier in the year - it must have been a success since it's being rolled out properly.
The iPad in-flight entertainment should set you back $10 - let's hope they include Angry Birds on the iPad!
