Peek offers new Peek 9 to users of older Pronto and Classic devices

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Oct 18, 2010 7:02 pm

Peek has been offering devices that look a bit like a smartphone for a long time now. The idea is that the Peek devices will allow the user to get email and message people without having to use a smartphone or pay for a smartphone data plan. The company offered service that the user could buy monthly yearly, and for a lifetime.

Apparently, the carrier that provides connectivity for the older Peek Pronto and Classic messaging devices has gone out of business. That left a bunch of Peek users who had paid for connectivity with no way to get their devices online. Peek could have said sorry, nothing we can do, you can buy a new device and went on about its business.

However, the company has now announced that ever owner of an older Peek device that wants to can get a free Peek 9 device so they can continue using the Peek service. Peek says that all buyers should have received an email offering them the free upgrade already. However, the company says Peek owners that didn't get the email offer can email care@getpeek.com to get their free upgrade to the new device.
