Netflix on PS3 gaining 1080p and 5.1 surround support; also getting rid of the need for a disc

The PlayStation 3 is getting a pretty big-time update Monday for Netflix fans! Here's the full scoop from Eric Limpel, Vice President of Network Operations at Playstation:

 

 

First off, you'll be able to throw that silly disc away that you've had to pop in every time you've wanted to use Netflix as it will be no longer necessary. Second, 1080p streaming and Dolby Plus 5.1 surround sound support will be added to upgrade the viewing experience. The original release stated only 1080i would be available, but the bigwigs at PlayStation have since edited out that nasty little "I" for the much more awesome "p".
