Altek Leo 3.5G Android phone packs awesome camera

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Oct 4, 2010 6:02 pm

One of the worst things about my iPhone is that the camera isn't that great. If you want a smartphone with a popular OS that has a high-end digital camera inside that can replace your point and shoot, Altek has unveiled the launch date for the perfect phone for you. The phone is called the Leo 3.5G and it runs the Android OS.

The device will specifically run Android 2.1 and has a 3.2-inch screen, WiFi, Bluetooth, and supports 3.5G HSPA/WCDMA networks. The big feature though is the digital camera inside the smartphone. That camera has a 14MP image sensor that will allow high-resolution photos to be taken on your phone. The camera can also record 720p HD video.

The camera also has a 3x optical zoom, which is something rare on smartphones today. The phone also has GPS, accelerometer, digital compass, and handwriting recognition along with a microSD card slot. Altek is seeking partners for distribution of the device on wireless networks right now.
