Facebook and Skype possibly teaming up for video chat functionality

Facebook Chat got you down? Try Skype instead

As much as seemingly zillions of people love Facebook, the chat function leaves quite a bit to be desired for some. Facebook's possible answer? Teaming up with Skype to bring SMS messaging and video and voice chatting to Facebook Connect.

Rumor has it that Facebook and Skype are close to putting together a deal that will allow Skype users to integrate their accounts with Facebook Connect, letting users use the much more popular Skype interface to video or voice chat with their Facebook friends. No word on whether it will be available on the mobile platform as well as PC, but we may have our answer when the Skype 5.0 beta hits in a couple of weeks.
