Panasonic has launched their Toughbook S9 series of ultra-portable and impact resistant laptops. Touted as "the world's lightest 12.1" laptop with a DVD drive," the S9 weighs in at 3.0 pounds and boasts 11 hours of battery life.

With a magnesium alloy case and shock-mounted flex-connect hard drive, the S9 is rated to handle drops of up to 30 inches and the spill resisitant keyboard offers protection against liquid-based mishaps as well. A 2.4 GHz Core i5-520M CPU, 2 GB of RAM, a 320 GB hard drive, a DVD writer, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 round out the specs. The Panasonic Toughbook S9 retails for around $2,499 depending on final specs.
