Kingston releases their first USB 3.0 flash drives with the DataTraveler Ultimate

Kingston is jumping onto the USB 3.0 bandwagon with their first flash drive to take full advantage of the new interface. The newest Kingston DataTraveler, dubbed the "Ultimate," features maximum read speeds of 80 MB/s and write speeds of 60 MB/s. These are three times faster than the 30/20 advertised for the USB. 2.0 DataTravelers and in line with the real-world performance boost seen when jumping from USB 2.0 to 3.0.

 

 

"USB 3.0 is the next major milestone in Flash memory for USB products and Kingston wants to have a solution in the marketplace for early adopters," said Andrew Ewing, Kingston's USB business manager. The drives are backed by a five year warranty, and have recommended price tags of $89, $138 and $270 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 drives, respectively.
