According to sources at Mashable, a leading social media news site, Twitter has something hatching right now. Even a Twitter company tweet suggests to confirm it in part.

If the rumor turns out to be correct, Twitter will bring images and videos to tweet posts. Twitter has been text only forever and if a tweeter wanted to include multimedia in their tweet post, they would use an external service like Twitpic for hosting and linking to images.

Obviously the proposed and we repeat rumored changes would have the folks over at Facebook worrying a little. The inclusion of multimedia in tweets blurs the line of difference between the two mega social networks. According to the story by Mashable, Twitter plans on making things more clear during a company press event due to be held at 7pm US EST.
