NVIDIA finally polishes up its mid range segment with GTS 450

By: (more) | Video Cards News | Posted: Sep 13, 2010 4:58 am

A full year after AMD released the HD 5700 series to market, NVIDIA has finally come out with a solid alternative for those looking to spend no more than around $130. For this you'll get a card based on NVIDIA's Fermi architecture with DirectX 11 support and a good backing of specs for a mid range card from the GF106 core and accompanying 1GB GDDR5 memory.

Today it's all about the new GeForce GTS 450; a card that could finally take a large chunk of interest away from the other side and give NVIDIA a good jump in market share. Though with that said, the good ole' HD 5700 series should remain an attraction for many mid-range buyers with AMDs answer to the GTS 450 being a decent price drop, but will it be enough to keep them in contention?

The flood of reviews that have hit the web on NVIDIA's latest mid range weapon have all the answers on what this card does for your $130 odd. Our VGA guru Shane has kicked out his first for the day which looks at Galaxy's first GTS 450; a non reference model straight off the bat with increased clock rates and an eye catching cooler.

Stay tuned throughout the day for more GTS 450 content along with a good mixup of SLI and overclocking articles over the next few days. In the meantime, here's a roundup of the GTS 450 coverage elsewhere on the web :-
