LG set to ship Tegra 2 packing smartphones in Q4

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Sep 7, 2010 3:02 pm

LG is not one of the larger players in the smartphone market that is dominated by Apple and Android handsets. LG is looking to change that though not so much with a fancy new Os as it is looking to get users with raw power. LG has announced that it has new smartphones with NVIDIA Tegra 2 inside coming this year.

The new line of smartphones is set to launch in Q4 2010 and will pack the dual-core Tegra 2 mobile processor inside. Tegra 2 is the world's first dual-core processor for smartphones claims LG. The new smartphones will be part of the LG Optimus series.

Tegra 2 will allow LG to bring a couple notable firsts to the smartphone market. Those firsts include the first dual-core processor with both cores operating at 1GHz and the only ultra low power NVIDIA GPU. Tegra 2 promises to improve web surfing capability on the smartphones by two times and gaming performance by five times. The phones will also support 1080p video playback and more.
