BenQ and Zowie team for gaming monitor

By: (more) | Displays & Projectors News | Posted: Aug 9, 2010 4:06 pm

BenQ and a company called Zowie have announced that they have teamed up to produce a new gaming monitor. BenQ has been making screens for computers for a long time. The LCD is thinner and more power efficient, but there are many who still miss the performance that came from the old CRT screens.

Zowie and BenQ plan to bring new LCDs to market that have the same sort of performance we got from those big CRT screens. The new screen will use the latest LED backlighting tech.

The firms will have input directly from pro gamers in the construction and design of the screen. The screen will make its official debut later this month. There are no specs for the screen offered. The only thing I can really think of that my old CRT was better for than a LCD was high resolution. I wonder if we will finally see a DisplayPort screen that supports more than 2560 x 1600.
