Over half of Blackberry owners planning to go Android or iPhone

Very few users planning to switch to Blackberry as well

It looks like RIM may have a bit of trouble on their hands in the near future; according to a poll of Blackberry owners done by Nielsen, over 50 percent of current Blackberry owners are planning on defecting to Apple or Android devices when their contracts are up. This is opposed to 89 percent of Apple owners and 71 percent of Android owners planning to stay loyal to their current brand.

The people planning to leave Blackberry were fairly evenly split with 21 percent planning to go Android and 29 percent to the iPhone. Only 2 percent of iPhone owners and 3 percent of Android owners were planning to switch to Blackberry. RIM had better hope that Blackberry 6 and the Blackpad resonate well with customers, or the future could look a little ugly for their sales numbers.
