ACMA gives thumbs up to in-flight mobile phone use
After a nine month trial of "pico" cell tranceiver stations from AeroMobile, with customers including Qantas, V Australia, Malaysia Airlines and Emirates, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has given the green light to allow passengers to use their mobiles in the air within Australian airspace.
Airlines now have the ability to offer satellite services which can be accessed via roaming arrangements with their carriers. The source has all the details.
