iPhone 4 availability delayed in NZ

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jul 30, 2010 8:26 am

I'm sure there were a lot of annoyed Kiwis looking to pick up a shiny new iPhone 4 today after finding out that despite the launch having taken place early this morning, Vodafone, Magnum Mac and JB Hi-Fi stores weren't handing out the phones.

ZDNet Australia were informed by staff at JB Hi-Fi in Queen St, Auckland that they simply did not have any iPhone 4s in stock and had no idea when they'd be getting them.....

When speaking to Magnum Mac, they didn't have any real reasoning behind the lack of phones either. It wasn't until 12:42pm when a Vodafone spokesperson sent a comment to say the carrier was finally shifting the phones when NZ folks could start to get their hands on them. As it stands, they still have to wait until this evening before Apple turns on the switch for online sales.

The reason for the delay is not known for sure; media reports are saying it's partly due to a stouch between Vodafone and Apple, or it could simply be down to a shipping problem.
