Amazon Kindle getting thinner and lighter version starting at $139

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jul 29, 2010 2:45 am

Amazon has officially unveiled the latest generation of their popular e-reader, the Kindle. The new version is stated to be 21 percent smaller and 15 percent lighter than previous versions with the higher contrast screen rolled out on the Kindle DX.

There will be two flavors of the new Kindle rolled out: a WiFi only version expected to be priced at $139 USD, and a 3G capable version for 50 dollars more at $189. With double the memory of the previous Kindle and a sleeker design, this may be Amazon's best Kindle yet as the price is still competitive with other devices on the market like the Nook.
