The Herald launches online reader for iPad

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jul 26, 2010 9:22 am

The Herald has just launched its first app for the iPad which allows readers to access the "smart edition", an electronic online version of each day's paper. The cost of doing it this way works out to 56c per day, whilst existing subcribers to the seven-day print edition of the paper can view the "smart edition" online with the aforementioned app for free.

The online smart edition allows for easy zooming in and out, scrolling, clicking on a story to read in text only form if preferred, keyword searching, sharing of articles to others and story commenting, to name just a few of the features on tap.

The Herald's publisher, Fairfax Media is also offering to bundle the weekend paper, plus either Friday's or Monday's edition with seven day a week access to the smart edition for $205 per year.
