Windows 7 SP1 public beta up for download

By: (more) | Software News | Posted: Jul 14, 2010 3:06 pm

It's not all that common for Microsoft to be ahead of the schedule when it comes to big updates and new software offerings. If you are a Windows 7 user who isn't afraid of using beta offerings a new download is available for you and its early.

Microsoft has made the public beta for Windows 7 SP1 available for download right now. With the popularity and sales success of Windows 7, there should be lots of folks on the lookout for the update.

Engadget reports that no major new features are added. SP1 wraps all the patches for the OS since it hit market into a single 1.2GB file along with some other hotfixes. The downside if you download is that you won't get much in the way of support if you run into issues.
