World's First Windows Phone 7 the prize for teen developers

While most contests for high school students involve scholarships and the like, the finalists in Microsoft's Rockstar challenge got an unexpected treat: the world's first Windows Phone 7 handsets.

 

 

The two winners pictured above are Eric Lo, 16, and Christian Hood, 17. Winning a game developing challenge put on by Microsoft by, among other things, hacking a Wiimote to act an accelerometer to go with a game called Droid Assault they developed for Windows Phone 7, Eric and Christian also scored a trip to Poland. 103 teams, which made about 350 people, were named finalists and were lucky enough to grab the handsets which are the first to emerge outside Microsoft's development lab.
